With original sets and costumes by Michele Oka Doner, MCB’s reimagining of A Midsummer Night’s Dream takes its inspiration and palette from South Florida’s surrounding waterways. Daughter of Miami Beach’s former mayor, Oka Doner’s work is fueled by the natural world around her and spans throughout the Miami community – even lining the floors of Miami International Airport.

After enjoying a much-needed 6-week summer break, our dancers have returned to the studios to continue rehearsals for our 2015-16 season. Kicking off October 23 at the Arsht Center in Miami, our highly anticipated 30^th Anniversary Season promises to be among the most exciting yet, with four Company Premieres, including a reimagining of George Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

For Justin Peck, Heatscape is a personal project. He made the ballet that Miami City Ballet will premiere next weekend at the Kravis Center for dancers whom he regards as more than vehicles for his choreography.
The ballet, which uses 17 dancers, showcases what he calls “an assembly of individuals.”

Miami City Ballet is pleased to announce several national touring engagements, with performances scheduled for New York City, Chicago and Minneapolis.
“I cannot think of a better way to celebrate our 30th Anniversary than by sharing these marvelous dancers with our audiences and lifelong fans across the nation,” said MCB Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez. “We are so excited to be back on the road bringing to New York, Chicago and Minneapolis audiences the vitality, energy and diversity that MCB is known for.”
