SUBSCRIPTION FAQ

What is a subscription?

A pack of 3 or 4 performances, purchased in advance. It is more cost effective to purchase a subscription than to buy single tickets throughout the year. A subscription gives you:

  • First access to the best seats at the best prices – save up to 20% off single ticket prices
  • Unlimited no-fee exchanges (value: $15 saving per ticket)
    • Tickets must be exchanged 48 hours prior to the performance.
  • Discounted additional tickets all season long
  • Exclusive event invitations, pre-sales and discount offers

There are two types of subscriptions: Premium (Full) and Create your Own (CYO).

What is a Premium Subscription?

The best value and the best seats! Previously known as Full Series, with a Premium subscription you see 3 or 4 performances at your favorite theater in the same seats every time – and your seats are renewable year after year (excludes Nutcracker). Premium subscribers enjoy the deepest discounts (save up to 10% off single ticket prices) and are seated first, so they have the pick of the best seats in the theater. You can add on The Nutcracker tickets at 25% off. Save 10% off additional tickets after Sep 1.

*Note: Due to venue availability, we are unfortunately unable to present our Spring Mix 3 program at Broward Center but are pleased to offer you the option to add it to your subscription at the Arsht Center or Kravis Center with a 40% discount!

What is a Create Your Own Subscription?

The most flexible subscription, and also great value – save up to 15% off single ticket prices. For the 2023/24 Season you can select 3 or 4 performances and mix and match the dates and theaters that work best for you. With a CYO, your seats vary each year and each performance (i.e. you will not keep the same seats as you would with a Premium subscription). The more you see, the more you save – plus, save up to 25% on The Nutcracker if you add tickets to your subscription before September 1st. Subscribers are able to add additional tickets to their order for any of our programs at a 10% discount after September 1st.

How much is a subscription – what are the savings?

Premium subscribers enjoy the deepest discount and save up to 20% off when compared to single ticket retail prices. CYO subscribers enjoy up to 15% off. Ticket prices vary throughout the season and are based on seat location or zone in the theater.

What is the Flexibility Guarantee for Subscribers?

We are committed to offering the flexibility you need and the excellence you have come to expect from Miami City Ballet. We want you to be as delighted by Miami City Ballet as we are to have you as a Subscriber.

Rest assured that should you need to change your subscription during the 2023/24 Season, we guarantee your ability to credit your purchase towards any future Miami City Ballet performance during the 2023/24 Season or donate your tickets to our nonprofit cause.

All account credits issued for 23/24 ballets need to be used by April 30, 2024 and must be used toward tickets to the current season or for your 24/25 season renewal. Credit will automatically be transferred into a tax-deductible donation after April 30.

Please contact Customer Relations for more information. Conditions apply.

Can I choose my seats?

Subscribers may select a general seating area and make more specific requests to our Customer Relations team or by making a note the seating notes section online. You will receive an email confirmation with your seats once you are seated. While we do our best to fulfill requests, we cannot guarantee they can be made exactly as submitted.

I am an existing subscriber and I want to change my seats, how does this work?

Seating changes will begin in June. Changes are processed in order of receipt. Put your change request on your order form or call Customer Relations to start your change request.

If you are subscribing online, you’ll be prompted to add details of any change requests during the renewal process. We will call you when we begin processing changes. (After the deadline for Premium subscribers to renew their seats.)

While we do our best to fulfill requests, we cannot guarantee they can be made exactly as submitted.

Can I exchange to see another performance?

Yes, subscribers can exchange dates to another performance free of charge. This is one of the most popular subscriber benefits.

  • Tickets for Program 1 – 4 (Fall Mix 1, Winter Mix 2, Spring Mix 3 and Swan Lake) performances are interchangeable within the same season. Subscribers can exchange into any other performance date, at any theater. This excludes Nutcracker.
  • Nutcracker tickets can be exchanged for another Nutcracker (i.e. Nutcracker tickets can’t be exchanged for tickets to another ballet and vice versa.)
  • Tickets are exchangeable within the same season only. (i.e. 2023/24 tickets can’t be exchanged for 2024/25 tickets.)
  • Requests must be received at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled performance.
  • Exchanges are not allowed after the performance date has passed.
  • If seats in the same price category are not available, we will do our best to upgrade you. A difference in ticket price may apply if the available seats are in a more expensive section of the auditorium. If the only available seats are in a section of the auditorium with lower ticket prices, we will notify you. Sorry, there are no refunds for the difference in ticket price.
  • Customer Relations will contact you with your options prior to confirming an exchange that requires a change in ticket price.

To exchange your ticket, please submit your request by:

How and when do I get my subscription tickets?

Subscriber tickets are mailed out, or you can select to pick them up at the theater. Tickets will be mailed out in September. (The first performance is in October (Miami/Ft. Lauderdale)/November (West Palm Beach).)

TICKETING AND OTHER USEFUL FAQ

I have tickets, but I need to change the date. Can I exchange to see another performance?

  • Subscribers can exchange dates to another performance free of charge. This is one of the most popular subscriber benefits. See details above.
  • Single ticket holders can exchange tickets for a $15 fee per ticket.
  • Tickets are exchangeable within the same season only. (i.e. 2023/24 tickets can’t be exchanged for 2024/25 tickets.)

Can I give my ticket to someone else if I can’t make it?

Yes. If you are picking tickets up at Will Call, please advise Customer Relations in advance to avoid any confusion.

Can I cancel tickets? Can I get a refund?

Tickets are non-refundable, but if you are unable to attend a performance, you can:

  • You can Exchange into another performance (as per above) 48 hours prior to your current performance date.
  • Give your tickets to a friend (as per above)
  • You can consider donating the value of your tickets to MCB. Donations support our dancers, MCB School, our scholarship program, community outreach programs and much more. Ticket donations are tax-deductible. Ticket donation must be made by box office close the day prior to your performance.

How do I find out who is dancing?

Casting is announced the week before each program begins. We announce this on social media (Facebook, Instagram) channels and on our website, on the program pages.

Dress code – what do I wear?

There is no dress code for Miami City Ballet. Some people dress up, some come straight from work, others are more casual. A ‘smart casual’ approach will always be appropriate. It can be cool in the theater, so an extra layer is useful.

What if I miss a performance by accident?

Unfortunately, we cannot exchange tickets from a past performance. To help prevent ticket holders from accidentally missing performances, we send pre-performance reminders by email before your show. If you don’t receive these reminders, contact Customer Relations and they can sign you up. Please note that ticket exchanges must be made 48 hours in advance of your performance. Ticket donations must be made by box office close the day prior to your performance.

I have a personal or medical issue that means I can’t attend, what can I do?

If you are requesting a ticket refund based on medical advice or extenuating circumstances, please contact Customer Relations, after a representative assesses your service case a credit
may be issued for a future performance. All credits expire on April 30th the season they were issued. Any unused credits are turned into a donation to MCB.

What is the duration of the performances?

An approximate duration and intermissions is published on the MCB website. We also include this in the pre-performance emails sent to ticket-holders about 2 days prior to performance. As a general indication, most performances are approximately 2 hours long.

I’ve lost my tickets, what do I do?

In most cases lost tickets can be replaced with a Lost Ticket Voucher (this is slightly different from a new ticket), but we will ask you to confirm the basic details of the booking to do this. Please contact us as soon as you realize you have mislaid your ticket’s.

At the theater – You may also visit MCB Customer Relations at Will Call. With valid ID and/or Order Confirmation number, they can issue you a Lost Ticket Voucher. Please arrive at least 15
minutes prior to the performance if you have lost your tickets to ensure we are able to reissue your tickets in a timely manner.

What discounted ticket programs do you offer?

Student Rush – $20 tickets are available 1 week before each program. See our website for details.

The best way to ensure you are notified about discounts is to sign up to receive emails from Miami City Ballet. E-news subscribers receive discounts, competitions and other offers throughout the year.

What age children can attend the ballet?

Many children love seeing the ballet, and we encourage you to bring them! The Nutcracker is a family tradition for many people, and children will enjoy other works that Miami City Ballet presents.

As a general guide, we recommend children 4 and over will get the most out of the experience.

Do I need to purchase tickets for my baby?

Yes, every person no matter how old needs a ticket – please contact Customer Relations for info about tickets for babies. Failure to purchase a ticket for a child may result in not being admitted to the event. Refunds will not be provided if this situation occurs.

What are your terms and conditions for tickets?

All sales are subject to our Terms and Conditions available here.

Who are the authorized ticket sellers for Miami City Ballet?

Miami City Ballet is the main authorized ticket seller for our performances. Tickets for relevant MCB performances can also be purchased via our partner venues: Arsht Center, Broward Center and Kravis Center.

If you purchase tickets from an unauthorized broker, seller or scalper (e.g. a re-sale website) you risk that these tickets are fake, void or have previously been cancelled and that you may be refused admission. Please call the MCB Audience Services team member if you believe you’ve purchased tickets from a third-party site.

I would like to write feedback about the performances, how do I contact MCB?
