Program Four: Don Quixote

Petipa / Minkus

Mar 20 – Apr 26, 2020

Searching for adventure, the fabled Don Quixote and his faithful sidekick Sancho Panza ride into a festive town square. This beloved classic is brought to life as a vibrant, kaleidoscopic, Spanish-flavored masterpiece, full of ruffled skirts swirling, toreadors strutting, street dancers cavorting, good-natured gypsies, colorful flower girls and more…

With its hummable Minkus score and virtuosic performances, Don Quixote is an everlasting crowd-pleaser. Kitri and Basilio’s sparkling, famous pas de deux, a humorous cast of characters, jaw-dropping sets and Don Quixote’s dreamscape make for an unforgettable experience in the theater.

This is colorful story-telling and classical dancing and at its most exquisite. The leaps! The balances! The bravura!

“Who couldn’t use a little romance, especially when accompanied by explosive jumps, fiery turns, fabulous costumes and a big dose of happiness.” Palm Beach Post

“It’s hard to tame the adventure that is Miami City Ballet’s Don Quixote” Miami New Times
