Edward Villella, Chairman of the Faculty Miami City Ballet School offers an intensive five-week training program in our 63,000- square-foot facility in South Beach from June 28 - July 30, 2010. Students must audition for the program. The program is for serious young dance students, 13 years and older. Our outstanding professional faculty teaches a curriculum consisting of a strong emphasis on ballet, with classes in technique, pointe, variations, partnering, and body alignment. Some classes in jazz and character are included in certain levels. Typically, students take four classes each day during the six-day-a-week schedule. Classes start at 9:30 or 10 a.m. and finish at 4 to 4:45 p.m. Off-premise chaperoned housing is available in beautiful air-conditioned dorms. Residential Assistants are on duty 24 hours a day along with a nurse and campus security. A number of evening and weekend activities are offered to complete an exciting and fun summer experience. In addition, MCB School offers an intensive two-week program for students ages 10-12 years old who are just beginning pointe or will be beginning pointe in the following year. Admission is by video audition or school audition. This program will work on body placement, stretch, and strengthening technique. The classes will run Monday through Friday, from August 2-13, 2010.
