Young Dancer Intensive

For Students ages 9- 14. Audition required.

Miami City Ballet School offers a two-week program designed for dedicated young dancers who are seeking a challenging summer dance experience. This program gives students ages 9 and up the chance to train with MCB’s renowned faculty and experience the highest quality of dance education. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to be exposed to MCB School’s curriculum and experience first-hand what it is like to train at Miami City Ballet School.

The Young Dancer Intensive program consists of a carefully designed curriculum to support each technical level to provide the highest caliber of training in a creative and artistic environment. Students will participate in well-rounded selection of classes based on their technical level.

Classes are held five days per week (Monday through Friday). On the first day of the program, all students will participate in a level placement class and program orientation. Students can expect up to 19 – 20 hours of dance instruction per week (each week may vary with the schedule).

Students will attend a full day of classes ranging from: (classes vary by level).

  • Technqiue
  • Pre-Pointe/Pointe
  • Variations
  • Ballet Terminology/History
  • Contemporary
  • Musical Theater
  • Stretch & Strengthen
  • Pilates

During these two – weeks our young dancers will find themselves immersed in an environment where we foster artistry, a love of dance, and respect for one another, while demanding dedication, focus, and hard work. Through this dedicated two-week training, these young students will find growth, improvements, and confidence in their dancing.

Please note that students must commit to the entirety of the program.

At the conclusion of the Young Dancer Intensive, students who demonstrate exceptional talent, potential and commitment are invited to join MCB School’s accomplished year-round training program in our Student Division.

To be part of our 2024 Young Dancer Intensive Program, students must audition during our Summer Audition Tour by the following – attend an in-person class in one of the cities during our 2024 National Audition Tour or Send us your audition video.

Audition Information

Can I audition?

Any student ages 8 and up can audition to be considered for the MCB 2-Week Young Dancer Intensive by auditioning during the 2023 Summer Intensive Audition Tour. Students must be 9 years old by the start of the program on July 29th, 2024.

For our 2024 Summer Audition Season, Miami City Ballet School is going on our Tour to hold in-person auditions in cities around the US. If you cannot attend one of our audition classes, don’t worry, video submissions are also accepted.

What is the cost of the Audition?

In-person Auditions
Pre-Registration Cost: $40.00
Walk-up costs: $45.00

Prospective students can Pre-Register for an in-person audition. After the pre-registration deadline for each city, day of registrations (walk-ins) are accepted. Please note, there is a cost increase for day of registrations. Space for each audition could be limited, therefore, pre-registration is highly recommended.

Video Auditions
Video Audition Cost: $45.00

For 2024 Summer Audition Results are expected to be sent out starting January 8, 2024.After January 8 2024, all students will receive email notification of the results within 5 – 7 business days after they submit an audition video.
