Ballet for Young People is a commitment to eliminating barriers and providing access to live arts performances.

Performed by the Miami City Ballet School Pre-Professional dancers and Miami City Ballet Company dancers, Ballet for Young People is a series of interactive performances that are fun and engaging. With a dynamic live narration, the audience is captivated with dance and experience fully costumed excerpts from the Ballet’s most enchanting and renowned repertory like: A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the beloved holiday classic George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® — all inspired by great works of literature.

Every December, students are invited to a student matinee of Miami City Ballet’s George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® through the MDCPS (Miami-Dade County Public Schools) Cultural Passport Program. Audiences receive educational guides with activities related to the history of ballet, the ballets performed, and the exciting world of dance. Ballet for Young People is MCB’s community commitment to eliminate barriers and provide access for all to the arts.
