Choreographic Intensive

The 2024 Choreographic Intensive is a unique, two-week summer program where a selective group of students ages 14 and up will have the exclusive opportunity to work with new and emerging guest choreographers. Students will experience first-hand what it’s like to have a work created on them, while choreographers will have the inspiration create new work. The program takes place at MCB Studios in Miami Beach. This unique learning opportunity offers to dance beyond their technique and experience life in a company setting.
During these two weeks, students will have a daily technique class with MCB faculty, followed by a full day of rehearsals with the choreographers. The program concludes with a live performance to premiere the new pieces giving the students an exciting and unique performance experience. The performance will be held in-person in our Lynn & Louis Wolfson II Theater located at MCB Studios 2200 Liberty Ave. Miami Beach, FL 33139.
Please note that students must commit to the entirety of the program.
At the conclusion of the Choreographic Intensive, students who demonstrate exceptional talent, potential and commitment are invited to join MCB School’s accomplished year-round training program in our Pre-Professional Divisions.
To be part of our 2024 Choreographic Intensive Program, students must audition during our Summer Audition Tour by the following: Attend an in-person class in one of the cities during our 2024 National Audition Tour or Send us your audition video.

Can I audition?
Any student ages 14 and up can audition to be considered for the MCB 2-Week Choreographic Intensive by auditioning during the 2024 Summer Intensive Audition Tour. Students must be 14 years old by the start of the program on July 29t, 2024.
For our 2024 Summer Audition Season, Miami City Ballet School is going on our Tour to hold in-person auditions in cities around the US. If you cannot attend one of our in-person auditions, don’t worry, video submissions are also accepted.

What is the cost of the Audition?
In-person Auditions
Pre-Registration Cost: $40.00
Walk-up costs: $45.00
Prospective students can Pre-Register for an in-person audition. After the pre-registration deadline for each city, day of registrations (walk-ins) are accepted. Please note, there is a cost increase for day of registrations. Space for each audition could be limited, therefore, pre-registration is highly recommended.
Video Auditions
Video Audition Cost: $45.00
For 2024 Summer Audition Results are expected to be sent out starting January 8, 2024.After January 8 2024, all students will receive email notification of the results within 5 – 7 business days after they submit an audition video.

2-Week Choreographic Intensive Housing
Supervised Housing at Tradewinds Apartments is offered for 2-Week Choreographic Intensive students ages 14 and up. Students must turn 14 by the start (first day) of the program to enroll in housing.
Tradewinds Apartments is located at 2365 Pine Tree Drive in Miami Beach, just two blocks from Miami City Ballet School (about a 10 minute walk). Each one-bedroom apartment suite housing up-to four (4) students per apartment is approximately 750 square feet, featuring a large bedroom with two bunk beds, living room, bathroom, two large closets and an oversized kitchen. These apartment style residences are fully furnished with a fully equipped kitchen and all utilities, linens, and housewares provided.
In addition to 24-hour building security, full-time Housing Manager(s) are available around the clock to meet our students’ needs during the 2-week program.
Important to note: Tradewinds Apartments is set up as independent living. Students are responsible for their own meals complete with grocery shopping and cooking/meal prep (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), laundry, and commute to and from the studios.
