Lecture & Master Class Series

As part of Miami City Ballet’s Lecture and Master Class Series, 130 public school students attended a performance and a pre-show talk of Romeo and Juliet at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami.

MCB’s newest community outreach and education initiative serves approximately 100 students ages 11-18 from three Miami-Dade County Magnet Schools: Hialeah High School, Zelda Glazer Elementary and Arthur & Polly Mays Conservatory.

Former Miami City Ballet dancer and Miami City Ballet School faculty member Kris Kramer leads the initiative which consists of one 2-hour presentation, two 2-hour master classes, and the chance to see a matinee performance. The program is set to repeat in spring 2015, providing students with lectures, demonstrations, and guided movement in preparation of the live theater experience.

The program further extends Miami City Ballet’s overarching goal of broadening the reach of both the Company and the School within the many communities it serves.
