Our acclaimed faculty focuses on individualized instruction for each student, drawing from extensive professional performing careers and solid pedagogical backgrounds in their respective schools of training. Their expertise paired with the MCB School syllabus creates a rigorous, comprehensive training program that develops a strong classical technique, refinement and musicality.

Children’s Division classes are open to all children ages 3 – 8. A perfect way to begin to foster the love of dance in your little one.

Creative Movement (Ages 3)

MCBS Creative Movement class is where it all begins! This class is an early introduction to the world of ballet, which provides children with a fun, and imaginative atmosphere that inspires creativity and encourages our students to express themselves through their love of dance. Any child can benefit from the joy, discipline, and exuberance of learning at Miami City Ballet School. These classes are a prelude to formal ballet instruction while introducing basic ballet vocabulary, and movement through a progression of engaging activities and exercises. Our goal is to begin to foster the love of dance in your little one.

Students must turn three (3) by September 1, 2023, to participate in this level. This class meets once a week for 45 minutes with the option to enroll in two classes per week. You may choose which day(s) of the week your child attends class. Class preferences are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Please note: Enrollment is limited per class and is first-come-first-serve. Once the program reaches full capacity, you will have an option to be placed on a waitlist. Classes are filled on a first-come first-served basis.

Everyone is welcome. No audition is required.

PRE-BALLET (AGES 4 – 5)

MCBS Pre-Ballet class is an early introduction to the world of ballet, which provides children with a fun, and imaginative atmosphere that inspires creativity and encourages our students to express themselves through their love of dance. BALLET PREPARATORY I (AGES 5 – 6)

MCBS Ballet Prep I class builds upon the Pre-Ballet experience by repeating some familiar exercises at a faster tempo and introducing new ones with a greater emphasis on posture, flexibility and strength. The preparatory ballet movements of plié, relevé and tendu in a parallel position are introduced with fun and engaging exercises. These exercises and activities are offered in an enjoyable learning atmosphere which will continue to inspire and develop the love and passion for dance among our preparatory level students.

Students must turn five (5) by September 1, 2023 to participate in this level. This class meets once a week for 45 minutes with the option to enroll in two classes per week. You may choose which day(s) of the week your child attends class. Class preferences are assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

BALLET PREPARATORY II (AGES 6 – 7)

MCBS Ballet Prep II class continues to build upon Pre-Ballet and Ballet Preparatory I, where strength, flexibility, posture and coordination are highly emphasized. Some basic ballet positions are taught as a preparation for the Level I MCBS Syllabus. Children are introduced to working at the ballet barre during the second half of the year.

Students must turn six (6) by September 1, 2023 to participate in this level. This class meets once a week for 60 minutes with the option to enroll in two classes per week. You may choose which day(s) of the week your child attends class. Class preferences are assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

Please note: Enrollment is limited per class and is first-come-first-serve. Once the program reaches full capacity, you will have an option to be placed on a waitlist. Classes are filled on a first-come first-served basis.

BALLET PREPARATORY III (AGES 7 – 8)

MCBS Ballet Prep III continues to lay the foundation of classical ballet training and prepares the students for the more demanding requirements of the MCB School syllabus. At the end of the school year, students seeking admission into the Student Division will be evaluated to by the School Faculty and Director. Admission to the Student Division is by Invitation only. The student’s physical aptitude, coordination, musicality, work ethic, classroom effort, attendance, feet, flexibility, turnout, structure, and proportions will be taken into consideration.

Students must turn seven (7) by September 1, 2023 to participate in this level This class meets twice a week. You may choose which days of the week your child attends class. Class preferences are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Class preferences are assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOK

Our Parent/Student Handbook offers important information about the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Miami City Ballet School. It provides answers to many commonly asked questions that students and parents/guardians may have during the school year. Because this handbook contains information about student rights and responsibilities, parents/guardians and students are responsible for reviewing the content.

Miami City Ballet School reserves the right to modify and/or amend the content of the Handbooks at any time during the year.

Dress Code

Girls must wear pink leather ballet slippers with white socks and must wear the colored leotard assigned for their level. No other clothing may be worn. No jewelry except small post earrings will be allowed.

Boys must wear a white T-shirt with black shorts white ankle length socks and white leather ballet shoes.

To create a new account and complete registration by visiting our MCBS Parent Portal.

FOR NEW STUDENTS FOR CURRENT STUDENTS

Students will be placed in the appropriate level based on their age as of September 1, 2023.
