POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Attendance

We cannot emphasize enough the importance of regular attendance and the commitment of the student to improve and polish his/her skills and talents. Progress in class depends upon regular and consistent participation.

Students are encouraged to make up excused absences, which include those missed due to illness, injury, family emergency, or religious holidays. Students in the Children Division can make up to two classes per semester and they need to be approved by the School Managing Director.

Absence notices should submitted through the MCBS Parent Portal and/or e-mailed in advance to school@miamicityballet.org before class so that the teacher and staff may be alerted of the absence.

Student Evaluation & Level Placement

Please note that Children’s Division classes are not a part of the graded curriculum at Miami City Ballet School. Students seeking admission into the Student Division will be re-evaluated by School Faculty at the end of Ballet Preparatory III.

Inclement Weather

Miami City Ballet School follows Miami Dade Public School weather closings. MCBS will not add classes or extend the calendar school year to make up for classes missed due to inclement weather or unexpected school closings. No refunds or credit will be given for classes missed due to inclement weather. Students are encouraged to make up any missed classes.

  • No refunds are given for classes missed because of illness, injury, vacation or weather, school withdrawal or missed classes.
