Casting for Program II: See the Music at the Kravis Center is now available.
The centerpiece on this program is a 30-year-old work that is new to Miami City Ballet. Yet it feels fresh. Jardi Tancat (‘Closed Garden’) is performed to Catalan folksongs. Three couples, probably farmworkers, enact their struggles with the land and their love for each other.

If there’s a link among the three works by Miami City Ballet that audiences saw Wednesday at Artis–Naples, it’s, well linkage. Sylphlike strings of dancers thread through each other in the opening Concerto Barocoo, the first of two George Balanchine works, in ways similar to the ensemble daisy chains in its elegant bookend, Serenade.

Jennifer Lauren, soloist with the Miami City Ballet, was named in the January issue of Dance Magazineas one of ’25 to Watch’ in 2014. The talented Tuscaloosa, Ala., native began her career with the Alabama Ballet Company.
