Nina Fernandes

Nina Fernandes was born in Rio De Janerio, Brazil and began dancing at age 13. She started her dance training at Centro de Artes Madeleine Rosay in Rio De Janeiro. She received a full scholarship to attend the summer program at American Academy of Ballet in 2014.
In 2013, Fernandes won the gold medal at the Cabo Frio International Dance Festival in the Senior Solo division. In 2014, she earned silver medals at the Goias International Dance Festival in both the Senior Solo and Pas de Deux divisions and at the World Ballet Competition in the Professional Solo and Pas de Deux divisions.
She then spent one season dancing with The Washington Ballet Studio Company, where she performed the Little Swan in Kirk Peterson’s Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, George Balanchine’s Serenade, among others.
Fernandes joined Tulsa Ballet II for the 15/16 season. During this time, she performed multiple corps and featured roles in Marcelo Angelini’s Nutcracker, John Cranko’s Taming of the Shrew, Edward Liang’s Romeo and Juliet and other works.
In 2016, Fernandes joined Houston Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet. During her two seasons there her repertoire included George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations and Symphony in C, Christopher Wheeldon’s Carousel, Justin Peck’s Year of the Rabbit, Sir Kenneth McMillan’s Mayerling; among many others.
She joined MCB as a Corps de Ballet member for the 2018/19 season.
