Neil Marshall was born in New York City. He began his training there at the School of American Ballet at age 11. He completed additional training at San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Royal Ballet and also worked privately with acclaimed teacher Wilhelm Burmann. Upon graduating from the School of American Ballet, he joined the Pennsylvania Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet. He danced there for three seasons, performing featured roles in the works of Christopher Wheeldon, Peter Martins, Trey McIntyre and Matthew Neenan. Marshall then joined the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, where he worked with Ms. Farrell directly on the many masterworks of George Balanchine, as well as performed in rarely seen works, including as the principal male in “The Unanswered Question” from Ivesiana and “Divertimento Brillante” from Glinkiana.
Marshall joined Miami City Ballet in 2007 as a member of the corps de ballet. He has performed in the works of George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Frederick Ashton, Christopher Wheeldon, Liam Scarlett, Alexei Ratmansky, Paul Taylor and Twyla Tharp. He has also performed with Oregon Ballet Theatre and The Washington Ballet.
