Elena Lobsanova was born in Moscow, Russia. She trained at Canada’s National Ballet School and joined The National Ballet of Canada in 2004. She was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2015.
At The National Ballet of Canada she danced numerous principal roles including Princess Aurora in Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, Juliet in Alexei Ratmansky’s Romeo and Juliet, and Alice in Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. She also performed lead roles in several George Balanchine works, including Serenade, Allegro Brillante, The Four Temperaments, and Apollo.
In 2014, Ms. Lobsanova received the Rolex Dancers First Award for her performance of Juliet in Romeo & Juliet and won The International Competition for The Erik Bruhn Prize in 2009.
She joined Miami City Ballet as principal in 2020.
