Earlier in 2020, Alaina debuted her first-ever choreographic work, Tang as part of MCB’s To Miami, With Love pop-up series to critical and audience acclaim. We caught up with the burgeoning choreographer and current MCB corps de ballet dancer to discuss her newest project Fire, premiering at the Norton Museum of Art on September 24th as part of the museum’s For the Record: Celebrating Women in Art exhibition. The performance marks the company’s first Palm Beach engagement since February 2020’s Firebird program at the Kravis Center.
On August 14, 2021, Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez was honored with “A Life for Dance” achievement award from the prestigious International Ballet Festival Miami (IBFM). Read her touching acceptance speech including her tender recognition of so many that preceded her, and her firm belief that ballet truly belongs to everyone in our community.

Only three months before Sergei Diaghilev’s death, in 1929, George Balanchine choreographed the final ballet created for the great impresario’s Ballets Russes.
We sat down with three leading ballerinas – Tricia Alberston on Emeralds, Jordan-Elizabeth Long on Rubies, and Katia Carranza on Rubies and Diamonds – to share their take on the genius of Balanchine and what makes Jewels such an endearing, popular ballet.
We are thrilled to honor Miami City Ballet dancer Tricia Albertson on her 25th season with us. To celebrate this exciting milestone in her career, Tricia shared special and intimate stories about her dance journey and experience at Miami City Ballet.
