Miami City Ballet named Best Theater Company
Congratulations to all the winners of the Sun-Sentinel’s Best of South Florida reader’s poll!
This year, Miami City Ballet topped the list for “Best Theatre Company”.
If they only danced as flawlessly as they do, then the Miami City Ballet (MCB) would be a hot ticket. But the company does that and more. Much more.
Every season, MCB ups the stakes. Last year, they added singing and acting to their resume, with selections from “West Side Story” and commissioned works from the hottest choreographers in the dance world, including Liam Scarlett, Alexei Ratmansky and Justin Peck (who is working on a ballet for this season inspired by Wynwood).
The season before that, the company put on their tap shoes and hoofed through “Slaughter on Tenth Avenue.” Under the auspices of artistic director Lourdes Lopez, MCB brings the dance, brings the drama.
