This month our dancers left behind the warm South Florida weather and headed to Vancouver, British Columbia for a weekend of special performances. Hosted by Ballet BC, the Company presented a full program of masterworks by George Balanchine with performances of Serenade, Symphony in Three Movements and Ballo della Regina. The performances, which received rave reviews, marked the company’s debut in Vancouver.

She may look delicate, with her long, feathery limbs and filigreed line, but Nathalia Arja’s dancing is powered by a startling speed and daring. The recently promoted soloist snaps through Miami City Ballet’s many Balanchine works with an audacity as joyful as it is thrilling, pushing the physical edges and emotional depths of everything she performs.
Twenty 1st and 2nd grade students from Fienberg-Fisher Elementary School in Miami Beach are learning to dance through MCB’s Explore Dance program. This educational outreach program is designed to promote the arts to our community’s youth through weekly classes held at MCB Studios.
This week, Miami City Ballet welcomed new principal Rainer Krenstetter, an accomplished Staatsballett Berlin dancer. Rainer is one of eight new dancers this season.

Miami City Ballet kicked off the 2014-15 season in grand style on October 17th at the Adrienne Arsht Center with John Cranko’s romantic classic Romeo and Juliet. The evening began with a pre-performance soirée on the plaza of the Arsht Center, replete with romantic tunes by DJ Corey Chase and photos on the red carpet with dancers.
