Ballet On The Beach

18 Dancers. 3 Ballet Hits. 1 Weekend.

Nov 23 – 24, 2019

Miami City Ballet is thrilled to return to our old stomping ground on Lincoln Road this November.

Join us for Ballet on the Beach at the historic Colony Theatre, the beloved art deco landmark in the heart of South Beach.

To a soundtrack of vintage pop hits by iconic artists, the extraordinary Miami City Ballet dancers will perform three spectacular works by award-wining choreographers, highlights from the upcoming 2019/20 season.

Program includes:

RODEO: FOUR DANCE EPISODES

Peck / Copland

Experience the irresistible pas de deux from Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes, full of playful athleticism and an infectious sense of wonder. Tony Award-winning Justin Peck’s thrilling choreography works together with Copland’s beloved American score to make “many people rejoice watching dance in the 21st… Its effect on the audience is inspiring.” New York Times

THIS BITTER EARTH

Wheeldon / Richter, Otis

This Bitter Earth fills up the room and takes your breath away with its power and smoldering beauty. Dinah Washington’s soulful 1960 hit This Bitter Earth is remixed with Max Richter’s On the Nature of Daylight to create a cinematic and haunting soundtrack.

NINE SINATRA SONGS

Tharp / Sinatra

This inventive and elegant work was created by trio of legendary artists – be seduced by Twlya Tharp’s choreography, seven swirling couples in costumes by Oscar de la Renta, and of course, the best of Frank Sinatra’s swinging hits including My Way, That’s Life and One for My Baby (One More For The Road).
