The Audience Development & Partnerships Manager’s core responsibility is to develop new and repeat business in the form of ticket sales, as well as cultivate relationships with local groups and organizations including:

  • Travel/tourism marketers
  • Alumni and service groups
  • Multicultural organizations and Community Partners
  • Philanthropic organizations
  • Educational Institutions and educators
  • Professional and corporate organizations
  • Additional local, national and international organizations
  • Corporate Sponsors

The Audience Development & Partnerships Manager is a part of the Miami City Ballet Marketing & Communications Department, reporting to the Director of Marketing.  As such, the success of this role is integral to the success of ticket revenue goals and will be accountable to meet or exceed group sales goals each year. In addition to close collaboration within the Marketing team, this individual works with the Sales and Box Office teams. On-site hospitality duties are included in scope of work.

This position requires travel between three markets: West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. During subscription season, this role works out of the West Palm Beach office 2-3 days/week and in the holiday season work mainly from the Miami office.

Business development

  • Grow and cultivate group subscription and single ticket sales for the Miami City Ballet season, with focus on The Nutcracker, full-lengths and mixed bills that include broadly appealing ballets
  • Research and attract potential new and repeat groups to purchase tickets; make outbound contacts through calls, emails, networking, and personal appearances to pitch the story of the Miami City Ballet
  • Act as primary liaison for groups, ensuring that their needs are met and that all aspects of their bookings (reservation, ticketing payment) are handled by the Box Office
  • Develop relationships with group operators in all facets of travel/tourism business to build clientele for sales
  • Collaborate with Visit Florida, Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, Broward Tourist Development Council and other relevant tourism agencies
    Attend trade shows when possible
  • Identify opportunities, work with marketing dept, venues and other vendors to create standard and custom entertainment options, packages and web pages for Groups
  • Coordinate and communicate with Sales & Box Office teams to ensure offers are set up in database, and correctly documented
  • Respond to group inquiries, and a landing pages for online groups
  • Assist in keeping Tessitura account database updated, including addition of new accounts
  • Work with Marketing Manager to stay up to date on key offers and opportunities across all performances
  • Meet or exceed weekly, quarterly and annual sales goals, targets and initiatives


  • Work with Marketing team to create promotional outreach calendar and initiatives for each season
  • Develop and communicate marketing and sales collateral needs to help boost outreach and grow partnerships
  • Effectively manage various group sales programs and assist in creation of new programs/events that increase sales opportunities and overall revenue
  • Represent the Miami City Ballet at community outreach and external events
  • Lead collaboration between internal partners and other departments to ensure success of group sales initiatives

Research and Reporting

  • Develop annual, data-driven projections in collaboration with the CMO and Director of Sales & Customer Relations.
  • Work with the Marketing team to communicate key learnings and community trends to drive additional business
  • Monitor and report achievement of quarterly and yearly goals
  • Track contacts and report on strategies to encourage initial and repeat business
  • Research/monitor other organizations’ group sales initiatives

  • Work cohesively with other departments to ensure signage, promotions and other deliverables are completed in a timely manner
  • Proofread marketing materials
  • Process invoices and aid in budget reconciliation
  • Attend Miami City Ballet performances and company events as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned


  • 2+ years experience in sales with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals
  • Ability to work within set organizational structures while also thinking creatively about sales offers and outreach
  • Strong abilities in building and cultivating relationships
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; strong verbal, written, and listening ability
  • Strong organization skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work off-site and after-hours as required
  • Knowledge of the performing arts and specifically dance is a plus
  • Approach issues as a solution-oriented, creative, and strategic thinker
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and database functions is preferred
