WORLD PREMIERE: CARMEN BY ANNABELLE LOPEZ OCHOA
Closing the season with fire and passion, Miami City Ballet presents the world premiere of Carmen, a new evening-length ballet by celebrated choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. Known for her bold storytelling and striking visuals, Lopez Ochoa brings her signature style to one of the most enduring tales of love, jealousy, and fate. The ballet reimagines Bizet’s classic opera with a fresh score by Colombian-born composer Juan Pablo Acosta, blending the sultry melodies of the original with a contemporary Latinx sensibility. Carmen promises to captivate audiences with its sensuality, drama, and powerful reinvention of a timeless classic. This production serves as a fitting finale to Lourdes Lopez’s remarkable tenure as Artistic Director, capping off her transformative leadership with a bold new work that embodies her visionary approach.
