Company B

Company B is coming to the Barre

The first program of the Open Barre Dance Series is almost here! On Friday and Saturday you’ll get the chance to sip on complimentary wine and then watch the dancers perform in our intimate 200-seat studio theater. Paul Taylor’s Company B and Twyla Tharp’s “The Golden Section” will be the featured ballets this weekend.

Zoe Zien recently chatted with us about her role in Company B, “Rum and Coke,” and about dancing in the intimate setting that is Open Barre.

If you haven’t been to an Open Barre performance, you don’t know what you’re missing! Click here for tickets.

Daniel the Bugle Boy

Daniel Baker is one of the dancers who will perform the role of the Bugle Boy in Company B! This Paul Taylor work will be featured by MCB during Program I, which kicks off at Adrienne Arsht Center on Friday, October 23.

Before you watch Daniel boogie woogie on stage, watch this video about his very exciting role.

Company B rehearsal with Patrick Corbin

Opening night is almost here!  In the blink of an eye it’ll be October 23 and Miami City Ballet will be performing Company B during Program I.  Patrick Corbin, former Paul Taylor dancer and now Artistic Director of CorbinDances, was recently in the studios with the dancers rehearsing this Paul Taylor signature piece.  Here’s a glimpse of rehearsal.

Patrick Corbin Stages Company B

Patrick Corbin — Artistic Director for CorbinDances and celebrated former dancer with The Paul Taylor Dance Company – is here casting and rehearsing the dancers for Company B.  This signature Taylor work, performed to contagious hits by the Andrews Sisters (“Rum and Coca-Cola,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” etc.), is part of Program I.

We sat down with Patrick to discuss Company B and his experience staging the work for MCB.
