Zoe Zien was born in New York City. She began her dance training at age seven at the School of American Ballet. While a student, Zien performed in numerous Balanchine productions with New York City Ballet, as well as Peter Martin’s Sleeping Beauty and Christopher Wheeldon’s Scène de Ballet. At age 17, after completing her training at the School of American Ballet, Zien attended Miami City Ballet School, where she began dancing with the company. In 2003, Zien became a student apprentice with Miami City Ballet and was promoted to the corps de ballet in 2005.
