Hometown: Pinar del Rio, Cuba
Nieser Zambrana Reyes was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba and started dancing there at age nine at Escuela Provincial Raul Sanchez. When he was 12, he started training at Escuela Provincial Alejo Carpentier, and at 14 was accepted into the Escuela Nacional de Ballet, both in Havana.
In 2007, Zambrana was accepted into the corps de ballet of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, and in 2009 went to the Teatro Teresa Carreño in Caracas, Venezuela. He moved to the U.S. in 2010 and danced with Orlando Ballet for two years before coming Miami City Ballet in 2013 as a corps de ballet member.
Zambrana has worked with teachers and choreographers such as Mercedes Quintanas, Iliana Lastre, Marta Iris, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Ramona De Saa Bello, Azari Plissetski, Fernando Alonso, Alicia Alonso, Hector Sanzana, and while at Miami City Ballet with Justin Peck and Richard Alston. Throughout his career, he has danced roles in Coppélia, Diana and Acteon, Don Quixote, Tschaikovsky Pas de Deux, Cinderella, The Sleeping Beauty, and A Midsummer Night`s Dream.
