EDWARD VILLELLA / FOUNDING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Tschaikovsky Pas De Deux

Choreography by Balanchine
Music by Tchaikovsky

Balanchine's tour de force duet features eight and a half minutes of the choreographer's signature traits: his surprises, his complexities, his challenging quirks and combinations. At times it would seem more like a flight plan, while the dazzle of it suggests the best of Broadway. Balanchine called it "a display piece, based on the music and the maximum gifts of virtuoso performers."
