PRESS RELEASE: New World Symphony to Present Event Titled 'New Work,' Featuring Premieres of Classical Music, Ballet, Video Art and Poetry

MIAMI BEACH – The New World Symphony will present an evening highlighting world premieres in the disciplines of music, dance, video art and poetry during an event aptly titled New Work, Saturday, April 20, 7:30 PM at the New World Center (500 17th Street).  The event will be led by the New World Symphony’s Artistic Director Michael Tilson Thomas. 
 
In a special collaboration with Miami City Ballet, New York City Ballet dancer and emerging choreographer Justin Peck will debut his pas de deux titled CHUTES AND LADDERS, set to Benjamin Britten’s String Quartet No. 1.  On the heels of his critically-acclaimed works for New York City Ballet, Peck created his 9-minute premiere on two Miami City Ballet dancers. In creating the ballet, Peck strived to “pay his respect to the music,” producing what he describes as stark and minimalist work that achieves cohesiveness playing off of the duality of the music...read more.
