Only once, ever. That was the most electrifying — and poignant — of the many singular qualities of Miami City Ballet’s world premiere of choreographer Alexei Ratmansky’s haunting and intoxicating Symphonic Dances.
While this tumultuously beautiful new ballet will go into MCB’s repertoire next season, the troupe likely will never again dance it to the gorgeous accompaniment of the Cleveland Orchestra, and certainly never with the hyper-charged adrenaline of a first-time performance.
