Samantha Galler Celebrates College Graduation

Since closing MCB’s 2014-2015 in Broward last month, our dancers have been enjoying some much-needed time off. From teaching to traveling, this summer promises plenty of exciting adventures, which we will be sharing in our MCB Summer 2015 blog series. If you’ve ever wondered what professional dancers do off the stage, you’re about to find out.

Today we spotlight a very exciting accomplishment for corps de ballet member Samantha Galler, who recently celebrated her college graduation!

Samantha writes —

I just attended my graduation ceremony at the University of Phoenix in Glendale, Arizona. I received my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. I was among only 12 other Environmental Science students. We are the first to hold this degree in the history of the University. The ceremony was held at the same arena as the 2015 Super Bowl.

I became interested in Environmental Science after traveling to Alaska in 2006. The importance of nature and environmental sustainability were intriguing. The program I chose took me over five years to complete. Dancing and completing my degree online was a difficult combination, but it cleared my mind in a positive way. Since I spend most of my time studying ballet, having an alternative subject helps me stay more focused in all areas. I am so glad to have finally earned my degree and hope to start on my Masters shortly! For my second career –way, way in the future–I would like to work with the National Park Service.

Congratulations, Samantha! Be sure to follow our MCB Summer 2015 blog series for more exciting stories from our dancers.
