MCB Shares The Nutcracker with Visually Impaired Guests

Last month, MCB hosted special Touch Tours for patrons with visual impairments. During the tours, which took place at Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale and Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, offered a memorable, tactile, discussion-guided experience backstage to explore

the intricate costumes and sets of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™Guests were able to feel the detailed construction of various props and costumes, including the beloved Sugar Plum Fairy’s billowy tutu. Guests were then able enjoy the performance with the assistance of Live Audio Descriptions via personal headsets.

Touch Tours, as well as Live Audio Described Performances were available for George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™ at all venues. The response to the combination of both tours enriched the theater experience for individuals with visual impairments.
